Going to Dudhsagar is a trip you need to plan! There are multiple options and you can choose whatever feels right to you.
Option 1 (via Goa — Karmali, of course!)
You can take an overnight train which takes around 15 hours to Karmali and then reach Dudhsagar via car/train.
To reach by train you will have to go to Panaji and board the 12779 — Goa Express (towards Hazrat Nizamuddin). Dudhsagar is only 63 kms from Karmali. You can also rent a car and drive to Dudhsagar which will take around 2 hours and would be a beautiful road trip!
Option 2 (via Belgaum)
You can take a train to Belgaum from Pune and then reach Dudhsagar via Belgaum. Some of the trains to Belgaum are:
Sharavati Express — 11035
Jodhpur — KSR Bengaluru Express (via Davanagere) — 16507
Since, Belgaum is only 124 kms away from Pune, you can also choose to take a bus or rent a car to Belgaum.
Again, Dudhsagar is around 125 kms from Belgaum, so it’s up to you to either take a bus/rent a car or take a train and go full Chaiyya Chaiyya on yourself (I tried to be funny!)
Some trains from Belgaum to Dudhsagar are:
Goa Express towards Vasco-da-Gama — 12780
Miraj — Hubballi Express towards Hubballi Junction — 11047 → Londa Junction → Goa Express towards Vasco-da-Gama — 12780
Option 3 (via Mumbai)
You can also reach Dudhsagar via Mumbai. The options to reach Mumbai from Pune are endless. Mumbai is only 150 kms away from Pune, so you can take a bus, car or a train. The journey will only take around 3 hours either way.
Refer Section 3 of this article to see how to reach Dudhsagar from Mumbai.
