Description

Dudhsagar waterfall rose to fame because of Chennai express and these four tiered fresh waterfalls with an height of 310 metres and width of 30 metres originates from Goa from the Mandovi river. These falls are on the Karnataka Goa border and there are 2 ways to reach the Dudhsagar waterfall all through Goa. One is that you start the trek through Kulem and follow the jeep trail and reach the falls, the other one is you enter the base through the railway track. The Trek is banned through Karnataka side because of the incidents which happened.

This Sea of Milk name for Dudhsagar Waterfall came from the myth associated with it. The story goes like this once there was a princess, she was the daughter of king of ghats. She used to go to the nearby lake to bath and along with her, the maidens used to drink milk from the jug. One day a prince was crossing the lake and hearing the sound of laughter of princess and the maiden he stopped. Maidens poured the jug of milk in the water around her to save her honour. Hence the name Dudhsagar.

Dudhsagar waterfall trek experience is one of a kind where we wont term it as a difficult trek but at the same time, it is also not an easy one. You have to walk around 8-12 kms through the railway track, through the jungle trail, cutting into the water streams and the experience of it is surreal! When you reach the falls, you feel as if you have won a trophy and the feeling is just exhilarating! You would just want to sit over there and be at peace overlooking the humungous falls!
